Warm-weather collections are blooming with flower power

If your wardrobe is in need of a shot, why not consider a floral injection?

Vince Camuto, Marc Jacobs, Cynthia Rowley, Louis Vuitton and Marnie are just a few of the international designers prescribing floral prints to bolster warm weather wardrobes.

Canadian labels and designers such as Anu Raina, Denis Gagnon and Lundstrom are also looking to the garden.

"I was inspired by an English garden when designing the many floral pieces in my current collection and was particularly inspired by the designs of Laura Ashley," says Montreal-based Gagnon.

Floral print tops and dresses remain warm weather perennials but designers are also making floral style statements in blossom-laden jackets, shorts, pants, and jeans.

"Floral prints are everywhere, even on denim," says Tamar Matossian, a Toronto-based spokesperson for the Lundstrom collection. "This year's floral patterns tend to be more distinct " with brighter colours and bigger patterns."

Along with brightly coloured floral prints with a laser sharp photographic quality, there's no shortage of geometric and slightly hazy-looking abstract floral prints and delicate softly coloured florals.

Border prints on tops and dresses offer new edge, while dresses, tops and accessories highlighted by floral appliqurs keep things looking lively.
